Our Diet For Lovebird Breeding Pairs
OUICK REFERENCE LIST...
These quantities are for a pair of birds.
All water and food dishes are changed daily.
* 1 Bowl of Clean Water
Below are put in two small dishes.
* 4 tablespoons of Cockatiel seed
* 4 tablespoons of Canary seed
* 2 tablespoons of Pellets (Breeder Formula)
* 1/2 cup of Black Oil Sunflower seeds
* Sprinkle of Bee Pollen
* Sprinkle of Spirulina
* 1 slice/piece of fresh fruit (Altered daily)
* 1 slice/piece of fresh veggie (Altered daily)
* I tablespoon of Birdie Bread every other day
Below is kept in the cage at all times until they use it up.
* 1 Cuttlebone
* 1 Mineral Block
FOOD: Replinish food as needed. I keep food in cages at ALL times.
For a Lovebird pair, in one bowl - 4 tablespoons of Cockatiel Seed and 4 tablespoons Canary Seed.
In the other bowl - 1/2 cup Black Oil Sunflower seeds, 2 tablespoons Pellets. Most brands carry a Breeder formula - has extra vitamins, you may have to special order this from your local pet source. Then add 1 tablespoon baked birdie bread (recipe follows) that has bee pollen (prefer powder but granules will do), Petamine and Spirulina * added to the baked ingredients. Keep unused birdie bread frozen and serve frozen.
Store any unused food in freezer - which minimizes spoilage and bugs. Just layer the different kinds of food in a bowl - the birds sort out what they like just fine.

Seasons In The Sun
Seasons in the sun...
Our aviary is custom designed to emulate a sunny bright environment that Lovebirds would have if they lived in the wild, including indoor artificial trees they can enjoy from their large individual cages as breeding pairs.
Our lovebirds live in our glassed-in sunporch from April through October so they can enjoy the out of doors sun and wind. We open all the sliding glass windows (screened) on good days for them. They love the gentle breeze and bright sun. We love the sunporch for them. Wish they could enjoy the sunporch year round. But too cold is why we bring them in for winter.
From November through March they live indoors with good lighting from a large ceiling florescent ceiling light and 2 table lamps. They're happy indoors as my computer in in their room with their large cages on the dining room table. Room also has two nice size windows for them.
They will stay hale & hardy while happy!
